“I attempt to create a calming, safe, supportive space that also allows for some humor. I am both guiding and collaborative. Together we will create a plan, practice skills, and find solutions so that you can live the life that you desire.”

Hi, I am Jessica, Founder and Clinical Director for Ajana Therapy & Clinical Services! Are you finding life extra difficult right now? Pandemic world sucked, 2020-2022 was a rough period in time. The rest of the years since haven’t been much better. I’m right here with you in the shit-show that is the world right now. With the collective trauma of the world, the polictical unrest, and continued systematic oppression of the global majority, we are all just trying to survive the best we can.

I specialize in working with professionals struggling with symptoms of trauma, anxiety, depression, and life transitions. Individuals who are trying to navigate the ups and downs of life, helping them resolve their shame, insecurities, and imposter syndrome. Additionally, I am passionate about working with the LGBTQ+ population, women’s issues, and maternal mental health. Personally, I know what it is like to struggle with peri- and post-partum mental health. I am a daughter of an ER/ICU nurse, so I am deeply familiar with the struggles and challenges of healthcare workers.

As a late in life ADHD diagnosis myself, I understand the grief that can come with living with something for several decades and having it missed by professionals. My own diagnosis pushed me into seeking more information about ADHD and neurodivergence, especially in women and girls, as this looks very different. While I am not an expert, I have a huge passion in peeling away the layers of various diagnoses that can mimic or mask ADHD and neurodivergent traits and working with my clients on navigating both the difficulties and superpowers of their neurospicy brain.

I also connect well with small business-owners, entrepreneurs, and women-owned businesses. Having your own business provides its own unique struggles. I get it all too well. This company was born out of my own ajana/unknown, my own gut-wrenching discomfort. It was during this difficult time that I heard the saying “Never fear the ajana, for that is where the good stuff exists” and it clicked. Of course it’s scary, the unknown always is. But through the unknown there is always growth. As Tracee Ellis Ross says, “I am learning every day to allow the space between where I am and where I want to be to inspire me and not terrify me.” So from my own uncomfortable growth, this counseling private practice in Houston, TX was formed.

I graduated from the University of Houston with a BS in Psychology in 2005. I completed my professional education at the University of Houston Clear Lake in 2010 with a Master’s degree in Counseling, and am licensed by the State of Texas as a Licensed Professional Counselor Supervisor. Additionally, I am credentialed by the National Board for Certified Counselors and Affiliates, Inc. as a Nationally Board Certified Counselor. I have thirteen plus years and an extensive background working in mental health services, including individual, couples and group counseling, crisis intervention, consultation, outreach services, and psychological assessment. Most recently, I have been trained as a Level 1 Internal Family Systems (IFS) Therapist.

Fun Fact: I once ran a marathon on ice (I’m not a runner). I like to think I am a writer. I am obsessed with bubble tea. And I have a small child, husband, and three dogs that keep me very busy outside of work. I am always seeking this elusive “balance” in life people speak of.
