“In helping yourself, you help others. By helping others, we change the world.”

Hi, I’m Alex and I have a Master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling from Sam Houston State University, my Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from the University of Texas at Dallas, and I’m currently under supervision by Jessica Eiseman, MS, LPC-S, NCC while pursuing my full licensure. I’ve been studying the human condition and learning about the mind for almost a decade now, and in that time I’ve spent a great deal of effort trying to understand the actions, behaviors, and feelings of others.

I have a somewhat unique background; I’ve lived all over the world, in such places as Dubai, Denmark, Taiwan, and Korea, as well as a few states in the US. I have also visited countries in every continent, except South America and Antarctica. Traveling to other countries has given me the opportunity to gain a deeper understanding of individuals from a broad cultural background. Living in other countries for a good chunk of my life has expanded my empathy, challenged the assumptions and stereotypes that shape our worldview, and made me think about my own values. To be more open to others also makes us more open to ourselves. Through these experiences, I have also communicated with people who don’t share my language – a tool that is supremely helpful in therapy, since learning to communicate across different barriers of language, culture, social norms, etc. is important in understanding one another. I believe I possess a great strength in this area, which separates me from your average therapist.

My view of therapy is also unique. I believe that most problems that individuals face in the present are rooted in the past, and by uncovering those past influences, we can better understand the present. I use various tools to help you accomplish this, but the main one will be talking. Talking, talking, and more talking. You may wonder how talking will help, but some of the most important conversations we will have will be the ones in which I help you gain a deeper and more meaningful understanding of yourself.  This is something I am passionate about. Helping you navigate whatever comes up, and will not rush you into anything you are not ready for. Your comfort and sense of trust in me are the most important aspects of therapy.

If you feel that any of my information has aligned with how you view the world, the way you perceive your problems, or that I just seem interesting, I would love the opportunity to work with you. Please contact us by phone or email to schedule a free phone consultation to speak with me about any questions you may have. I am truly excited about the work I do, and I want nothing more than to help you feel better and be better. Here’s to healing!

Fun facts: Nature is my happy place (no wonder green is my favorite color) and I love all kinds of animals. I have a passion for learning – I’m always taking lessons on the side or trying to investigate new topics. I also enjoy weightlifting, which I feel gives me balance in my life. I can solve a Rubix cube (don’t time me), juggle (you can time this one), and once took unicycle lessons (didn’t work, still can’t ride one). If you know anything about D&D, I’m what you might call “chaotic good”.
