David Ruiz (he/him)

Hi! I’m David and I am a current graduate student at the University of Houston where I am pursuing a master’s degree in counseling. This is also where I obtained my Bachelor’s degree in Communications.

I will take the knowledge I’ve gained throughout my counseling program and develop a supportive therapeutic relationship with my clients, while working through negative thinking, processing trauma and difficult feelings by improving their self-esteem, self-awareness, strengths, and positive thinking. As the expert of your own life, I will be there to help explore, manage, and work through what you choose to focus on during our sessions through cognitive restructuring, challenging core beliefs, and other cognitive behavioral techniques.

Get to know me: I am a first-generation student and son of very proud Mexican parents This alone has influenced my interest in working with Spanish-speaking individuals, as well as anyone that just needs to be heard. Born and raised in Houston, I have a love for everything this city represents: food, arts, sports & culture. I’ve spent a lot of my time traveling to other countries in my free time, which has given me the opportunity to gain a deeper understanding and appreciation for various cultures.
