“My commitment to you is to offer you extra support during challenging times that sometimes include trauma, grief, depression, and anxiety. I like to help people build on their strengths, introduce new skills, and create a strong sense of self. También ofrezco servicios en español.”

Howdy! I am Dr. Nancy E. Castellon, a bilingual mental health counselor for Ajana Therapy & Clinical Services. I proudly identify as a first-generation lesbian Latina counselor who has had first-hand experiences with the complexities of life. I hold an active license as a professional counselor in the state of Texas and a Ph.D. in Counselor Education and Supervision.

My approach to counseling is through a trauma-informed lens. This allows me to acknowledge the past, present, and future impacts of adversity in each client. The lens also further explores how it affects relationships with the self and others. My job as your counselor is to listen, support, and challenge you through your own self-exploration. I am nurturing and direct within the counseling sessions, which allows me to focus on what clients are saying “in-between-the-lines”.

I specialize in working with Spanish-speaking clients, immigrants, first-gen, and trauma. I have experience working at federal detention facilities, school settings, medical clinics, grant-funded organizations, and private practice. I am also trained in EMDR and hold a bilingual counselor certification. I work with adults who have experienced trauma/neglect and are now recognizing symptoms of PTSD, depression, anxiety, and grief. I am an LGBTQ+, sex-positive, and non-monogamy affirming therapist.

When I am not counseling, I am either teaching at local universities or spending time with my family. My guilty pleasure is reality TV and history shows on royals. And my music playlist always finds itself back to the early 2000s.
